Control Systems Drafter

This is a drafter position in our control systems and instrumentation group. The position requires a capacity to learn technical material, perform basic CAD drafting, ability to work independently with guidance, and strong communication skills in written, spoken, and personal formats.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Creates, modifies and works with 2D drawings in the AutoCAD 2010 (or newer) software
  • Uses basic drawing, editing, and viewing tool
  • Organizes drawing objects on layers
  • Uses reusable symbols (blocks)
  • Prepares a layout to be plotted
  • Performs assigned work within a given budget and schedule
  • Performs basic drafting support as directed by lead designers and/or engineers
  • Performs quality checks on own work
  • Performs work with moderate supervision and guidance
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Understanding of the AutoCAD workspace and user interface
  • Drafting skills, including scales, drawing layout, lettering, and a high degree of accuracy in copying
  • Perform effectively in a team environment, both in-person and remotely
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Highly detail oriented with a strong, self-driven work ethic
  • Able to evaluate equipment in the field, including climbing ladders, flights of stairs, etc.
  • Able to travel to remote work sites on occasion
  • Strong computer skills - Microsoft Applications

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
  • Basic working knowledge of 3D software
  • Experience with MicroStation

Education and Certifications:
  • AutoCAD Level 1 Certificate
  • Or Certificate in drafting & design - Preferred

Physical Requirements:
  • Able to sit/stand, type, and perform computer work for long periods of time
  • Frequent use of hands/fingers for computer entry and answering phones
  • Able to perform occasional bending, lifting, and reaching
  • Must be able to lift 15 lbs if necessary
  • Able to work in heavy industrial facilities: climb ladders, work off elevated surfaces, and walk over uneven surfaces while wearing required PPE
